As such, this is an article for those who have already decided to give CBD a go in terms of assisting with sleep patterns, whether that is helping you get to sleep, helping you stay asleep, relieving restlessness in the night, or any other potential reason you may want to try CBD.

Okay, so you're probably not asking that question, but many of us still underestimate how important sleep actually is.
Sleep isn't only important for energy, but also for your mood, for your mental health, for your physical health, and for basically every bodily function you have, so if you're not sleeping well, changing something to try and help that is of the utmost importance.
Should I Take CBD Before Bed?
Here's a point I get to rant about a phrase that has always annoyed me when it comes to anything that you use to help sleep; "take before bed".
I mean, cool and everything, but when? Before bed is basically any time from the second you get out of bed to the second you climb (or leap, or stagger, depending on the evening you're having) back into it again.
Now, I grant that it is logical that it means towards the time you go to bed, but what time? Many will tell you that CBD is best taken before bed, but what most will not explain is that this doesn't mean directly before you go to sleep.
Depending on how you take your CBD oil, it can take anything from five minutes to an hour for any effects to start being felt.
You want to be feeling the CBD before you go to bed, so that if it does help you to sleep, it does so quickly, instead of you lying there waiting for it to hit you.
This is a problem not only due to frustration in general, but because of the impact that frustration can have. One of the biggest issues of insomnia is the vicious cycle of the annoyance you feel from not being able to sleep making it harder to sleep.
Therefore, if you are irritated at not having fallen asleep yet, then anything you may be using to help you sleep could be less effective.
So When Should I Take CBD for Sleep?
You're right, we haven't really answered the question yet, sorry about that, we got caught up in all that information above.
So, let's give the firmest answer we can.
While advice is different and anecdotal evidence also varies, and the time can also change depending on how you are taking your CBD, the general rule of thumb we work with is that you should take CBD around one hour before you go to bed.
This time is set for CBD oil which, whether taken sublingually or ingested directly (it's more bioavailable the first way) should be doing its thing within an hour of taking it.
As stated above, we are not here to tell you whether this will help you sleep, there's certainly anecdotal evidence and some logic to back it up, and the research is being carried out, but an official scientific statement on the matter is probably a way off.
